Denver Family Photographer at City Park

Right before Christmas, I got to photograph Briana and her lovely family at City Park in Denver.  When I arrived, half of them were there and the other half had run to the liquor store to get a bottle of whiskey.  I knew this was going to be a fun family session! They were a beautiful and sweet family and we had a blast. And I highly recommend bringing some whiskey on your next shoot :)  It is my job to get you feeling comfortable, but whiskey can surely help speed up that process!

We had gorgeous weather for December and we ended up spending about an hour walking around City Park and getting different looks, variations, and candid family photos.  Bri and her husband had a 1.5 year old, Xander. Bri’s parents and brother were there so we had a total of 6 people. I’ve found that kids usually have a good 30 or 45 minutes tops during family photography sessions, so I made sure to be efficient with our time.  My family sessions are up to 60 minutes and we used up all of that time including letting Xander run around the playground for some good candids.

Denver Family Photography at City Park

City Park is one of my favorite places for family photos in Denver.  It offers a ton of options for family portraits and there is something for just about everyone.  I have shot everything from maternity photos, newborn photography, senior photos, family and newborn photos, and online dating profile photos at City Park and lighting is great either in the morning or afternoon.  I usually start at the Museum of Nature and Science at City Park and that area offers pine trees and other foliage to look like a mountain scene, while also offering city views of the Denver Skyline. There is also a playground for kids to enjoy if they are having a tough time and you need to break up the session.  We took advantage of that and let Xander play to help him get loose again.
