Photoshoot with Netjets - Aircraft Photographer Denver

I recently had the opportunity to work with Netjets on photographing one of their airplanes for sale.  This particular aircraft was a Citation Jet CJ1 that was located at Centennial Airport in Centennial, CO.  This was a super fun shoot and something that is a little different than what I normally shoot.

I usually photograph people, whether it’s families, senior photos, and entrepreneurs so getting to shoot a million dollar aircraft was awesome.  Although being in the aircraft, I’m not sure I’d want to pay extra for flying private, as the airplane was so small and cramped. You couldn’t even stand up in it!  I guess if you want to avoid security and the hassle of going to the airport, flying private would be nice but I think I’ll fly commercial for the foreseeable future.

So what does an airplane photoshoot look like?   I had the ramp guys tow the plane to a spot that was away from other aircraft and fuel trucks, with a decent view of the mountains.  It was a Friday evening and the airport was relatively busy so we didn’t have a ton of options for wide open spots. I shot the exterior photos handheld and had a great sky that evening.

For interior photos of the aircraft, I had the ramp guys tow the plane back to the hangar and I shot most of the interior on a tripod with slow shutter speed.  This proved to be tedious and I was somewhat limited by the tripod. I ended up shooting a few more artistic shots handheld with a high ISO and wide open aperture.
