This past summer, I did a senior photoshoot for Helen who is part of the Class of 2019 at East High School in Denver. She wanted to do something near the high school so we met on Colfax near the Bluebird Theater and then worked our way towards City Park and eventually to the track at East High School. She is on the track and field team and her mom is the coach, so we wanted to capture that in the photos.
I love shooting on Colfax and I think it’s great for senior pictures because it offers such a diverse set of backgrounds and interesting colors and textures. The Bluebird theater can be awesome and there are several murals around there that high school seniors love. And the best part about this stretch of Colfax is that it is close to City Park so you can get some beautiful, more natural looks to mix in to your session.
City Park is awesome and Helen brought a great outfit from Free People that worked fantastic for this shoot. The lake at City Park offers a great mix of blue and green and there is a gazebo overlooking the lake that can look great for lifestyle portraits. The sun was hitting Helen at just the right angle and I love how these photos turned out!
Our last spot was East High School. Helen’s mom is the coach of the track and field team so we had access to the track. We did a few photos in front of the school and then headed over to the track to capture her on the starting blocks. I brought off-camera flash to give it a commercial look, like a Nike ad. I think these turned out awesome and I’m glad we did the track shoot.
