Family photos should feel like your family. Not an hour of forcing everyone to stand perfectly still while hoping the kids keep smiling. I’m Tim, a Denver-area family photographer based in Lakewood, Colorado. I photograph families throughout Denver, Boulder, Evergreen, the foothills, and the Colorado mountains, and my approach is pretty simple: keep things relaxed, give you enough direction that nobody feels awkward, and leave plenty of room for the moments that happen naturally.
Some of my favorite family photos are the ones in between the posed shots. Kids laughing, parents pulling everyone in close, siblings messing with each other, or that brief moment when everyone forgets there’s a camera around. Those are usually the photos that feel the most like you.

For most families, a 30-minute Express Session or 1-hour Standard Session is plenty of time. I photograph everything from families of three or four to large extended-family groups, and I’ll help you figure out which option makes the most sense before you book.
FAMILY PHOTOS WITHOUT THE STRESS
I know family photos can feel like a production. You’re figuring out outfits, getting everyone dressed, loading up the car, hoping the weather cooperates, and wondering whether your kids are actually going to participate once we get there. That’s where I come in.
I’ve been photographing families since 2016, and I’ve worked with everything from newborns and toddlers to teenagers, grandparents, and large extended families. Kids don’t need to behave perfectly. In fact, they usually don’t. If someone needs a few minutes to warm up, we give them a few minutes. If the kids want to run around, we use it. If a toddler wants to take a picture with my camera before they’ll let me take one of them, I’ve done that too.
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to make the experience fun enough that everyone loosens up, because that’s usually when the best photos happen.
WHERE SHOULD WE TAKE YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS?
From mountains, pine trees, open meadows, and red rocks to urban textures, tall skylines, and the funky colors of the city, there’s not shortage of great spots in and around the city.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
This is probably the question I get the most before a family session. My general advice is to coordinate rather than match. I usually like warm neutrals, muted colors, solid pieces, texture, and layers.

Hey, I’m Tim. I’ve been a full-time photographer since 2016 after leaving a career in corporate finance to build something a little more creative. I’ve photographed more than 2,000 clients over the years, but working with people is still the part of photography I enjoy most. My approach is relaxed and straightforward. I’ll give you direction when you need it, but I’m not trying to pose every second of the shoot. I want everyone to have enough fun that the real personalities start coming out, because that’s when you get the natural expressions, connection, and family photos you’ll actually want to keep.
