To be honest, I never thought I’d be shooting so many family portraits, nor did I think I’d enjoy it as much as I am. I’ve done a lot of them this past year and I’m loving it!! Every family photoshoot is different and I love getting kids to be themselves and have fun with the camera rather than be afraid of it. I let them be the star and kids usually respond really well to that.
I recently had the pleasure of working with Kelli’s beautiful family doing family photos at Red Rocks near Denver. Red Rocks is one of my favorite places for families and Kelli’s family absolutely crushed this one! We had so much fun letting the kids be themselves and capturing their individual personalities. Kelli and her husband had two twin girls and a boy and they were a blast! And Kelli’s brother and his wife had a little girl and a 4 month old baby who was absolutely adorable.

Family photography is all about capturing that connection and I find that it takes a little bit of time to get that out of people. Sometimes, a photoshoot can be the first time certain family members have been that close (in proximity) to one another in a very long time and I love getting family members to connect with each other again.
People often tell me how much fun they had on the shoot and I love that! I do this because I love doing it and if we aren’t all having fun, then I’m not doing my job right. I get it, it’s not easy being in front of the camera. But either way, I want you to have fun and that’s ultimately what will make for some great photos!
